Reaching Super Bowl XLV has its drawbacks for Ryan Pickett, with the Green Bay defensive end and former Ohio State Buckeye forced to miss National Porn Sunday — an anti-pornography event he was due to attend, NBC Sports reported Saturday.

Pickett sits on the board of directors of xxxchurch.com — an online resource for people struggling with pornography addiction — and a sponsor of the religious event in Addison, Tex.

The event will broadcast its anti-porn message to 300 churches across the country on Feb. 6, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

At the same time, Pickett will be about 30 miles (48km) away at Arlington’s Cowboys Stadium taking on the Pittsburgh Steelers.

To make up for his absence, Pickett created a video message that will be played at National Porn Sunday.

“I would love to have been with you guys today. But fortunately, I’m a little busy,” Pickett says in the tape, adding: “Go Packers.”

Pickett said he had never struggled with porn addiction, but got involved with the ministry because he was concerned about its prevalence.

NFL quarterbacks Matt Hasselbeck of the Seahawks and Jon Kitna of the Cowboys also appear in the video, with Hasselbeck saying the ministry helped save his marriage.

Former NFL quarterback Josh McCown also speaks in the message, saying pornography was “taking me some place I didn’t want to go” and he had to stop.
