Oprah Winfrey will deliver the commencement speech to the 2012 graduating class at Spelman College. The journalist and philanthropist will also receive Spelman’s National Community Service Award.
Winfrey received her degree from Spelman in 1993 and has given $12M to their brother institution, Morehouse College since 1989. She will speak to the 550 graduates on May 20.
Three of Winfrey’s students from her Leadership Academy for Girls in South Africa were accepted as first year students into Spelman for the class of 2016.
