A number of facilities and organizations have opened their doors around central Ohio to keep residents cool on Monday.

The Red Cross provides emergency and cooling shelters at the following locations: Emergency Shelters

Hocking County: Central Elementary School, 445 N. Market St., Logan
Licking County: Cherry Valley Elementary, 1040 W. Main St., Newark

Gahanna Senior Center, located at 480 Rocky Fork Blvd (next to City Hall and the Police Station, open from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.)
Stoneybrook United Methodist Church, 458 Cherry Bottom Road, Gahanna is offering showers, beds and charging stations to residents in need from 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.( Hours are subject to change, more information can be found by calling the church at 614-471-0252.)

Amesville: Amesville Fire Dept., 1S Franklin St., Amesville, OH   (Open 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM)
City of Athens: Recreation Center, East State St.  (Open 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM)
Coolville: Coolville Fire Dept., 2826 Sixth St.  (Open now to 9:00 PM)
Glouster: Glouster Fire Dept., 98 Front St.   (Now until as long as needed)
Jacksonville:  Jacksonville Fire Dept., 9 South 7th St.   (Open now until 8:00 PM)
Ohio University Baker Center, Ohio University, open to the community   (8:00 AM to 10:00 PM)
Rome Township: Rome Township Fire Dept., 8660 Ohio SR144 Stewart, Water only is available (noon until 7:00 PM)
The Plains: Church of the Nazarene, 49 Connett Road (Open 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM)
