Authorities say the daughter of music legend James Brown allegedly stole an SUV and injured her boss in the process before she was taken into custody this week. Venisha Brown, the daughter of the Godfather Of Soul James Brown, has been charged with theft by taking a motor vehicle in Richmond County and is wanted by North Augusta authorities on charges of possession of a stolen vehicle, leaving the scene of an accident and first-degree assault and battery.
The Augusta Chronicle reports that Venisha Brown remains in custody at the Richmond County jail.
Authorities say Hope Ellis Campbell was injured when she tried to gain control of a vehicle from Brown, who works for Campbell. Brown was behind the wheel of a Chevrolet Suburban that was allegedly stolen from St. Stephen Ministries. Authorities say Brown accelerated, dragging Campbell over the hood of another vehicle parked nearby.
