While some actors headed off to splashy parties after the SAG Awardson Sunday night, Taye Diggs found himself caught up doing something less glamorous.

The “Private Practice” star, who was a presenter at the awards show, got home with wife Idina Menzel around 11 p.m. to find that someone was trying to break into his home, TMZ is reporting. According to law enforcement who spoke to the site, the suspect ran away after Diggs confronted him, but Diggs chased him down. The site adds that there was a getaway driver who managed to get away from the scene of the crime.

While his night ended chasing down burglary suspects, it didn’t start out that way. Diggs got his suit and tie game on when he took the stage with “Cougar Town” star Busy Phillipps to hand out the SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series. That prize went to Claire Danes for her role on “Homeland.” She beat out Michelle Dockery (“Downton Abbey”), Jessica Lange (“American Horror Story: Asylum”), Maggie Smith (“Downton Abbey”) and Julianna Margulies (“The Good Wife”).

Prior to the take-down at his home, Diggs tweeted about his post-awards festivities, saying, “Dee felt bloated, but I had a blast. My favorite part is the dance party afterwards. Dj Paesche kills it and everyone’s on the dance floor.” READ MORE
