COLUMBUS, Ohio –

Columbus police detectives say a shooting victim was found more than a half mile from the scene of the shooting Tuesday evening.

Officers and medic personnel were dispatched to the 5600 block of Ironwood Court shortly after 5:15 p.m. Tuesday on a report of a shooting.

At 5:22 p.m., additional medics were dispatched to a bank near state Route 161 and Satinwood Drive on a report of a shooting.

Officers were able to determine that the two locations were related to a single shooting.

According to the report 38-year-old Niki Hughes and 27-year-old Jermaine Williams had been involved in a verbal argument. The argument allegedly escalated at which time Williams allegedly shot Hughes in the chest.

Hughes was transported to an area hospital in critical condition. He was later stabilized.

Williams was arrested and charged with felonious assault.

The incident is under investigation by police.
