Lauryn Hill  reported to the Federal Correctional Institution in Danbury, Conn., to begin her three-month prison sentence, Peoplereports.

The 38-year-old five-time Grammy winner is serving time after she was found guilty of failing to pay almost $1 million in taxes in May. Hill’s punishment also includes an additional three months of house arrest after she leaves prison.

Naturally, Hill is less than enthused about going behind bars. She recently posted a rambling letter on her Tumblr about slavery and the IRS. “I shuddered during sentencing when I kept hearing the term ‘make the IRS whole’ … make the IRS whole, knowing that I got into these very circumstances having to deal with the very energies of inequity and resistance that created and perpetuated these savage inequalities,” she wrote.

Hill, a mother of six, said that she didn’t file returns in 2005, 2006 and 2007 because she withdrew from society after she received “very real threats” to her and family. The former Fugees singer paid her tax bill prior to her sentencing. SOURCE
