Henrico County, VA -Hospital officials at St. Mary’s say they have seen a sharp influx of patients with Enterovirus EV-D68 over the past two-days. At least ten children have been admitted to the pediatric care unit and are being treated for the potentially deadly respiratory virus. The virus is the most serious strain of enterovirus that has spread rapidly across the country according to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).
Health officials are warning parents to contact their child’s pediatrician immediately if their child shows signs of respiratory or asthmatic distress.
