You can’t talk about Fall in Columbus and not mention The Circleville Pumpkin Show. According to Fox 28/ ABC 6,  the weigh-in took four and a half hours this morning, but a new record was set for the weight.

The champion is not new to the gourd throne. The previous record was set by Bob and Jo Liggett with a weight of 1,636 pounds. Their pumpkin this year came in at 1,945 pounds!

One of the most tenured giant gourd growers is Dean Park. He lives just south of Circleville and has been growing pumpkins for thirty-six years. He says it takes a lot of patience and dedication to try to nurture the plump pumpkins.

The town shuts down for the week in preps for the largest pumpkin show in the country. It normally brings around 400,000 people to the town of 13,300.

There is about every food you could imagine with a pumpkin flavor – burgers, donuts, chili, pizza, cream puffs, ice cream, pancakes, pie, waffles, rolls, sloppy joes, and the list goes on and on.

The festival is open from 10AM until 10PM through Saturday.
