Ladies-Night

Da Brat chatted about the incomplete “Not Tonight” reunion at the 2014 Soul Train Awards and shade it’s host, Wendy Williams, during a visit to “Dish Nation.”

It was huge news for every ‘90s kid when they found out that Da Brat would be linking up with Lil Kimand Missy Elliot to do their hit “Not Tonight,” but a couple of people were missing from the reunion.

No one was expecting Lisa “Left Eye” Lopez to turn in a posthumous performance, but Rickey Smileywas curious about why Angie Martinez wasn’t invited back to perform with the rest of the ladies. Unfortunately, Brat couldn’t give him a great answer for that.

“You have to ask the producers about that. I don’t know what’s going on with that,” Da Brat told Dish Nation. “They just hit me. Then [Missy Elliott] hit me, like, ‘[Lil Kim’s] doing it. Let’s do it!’”

Even though everyone couldn’t come back for the reunion, Brat was still thrilled to recapture that moment. There tons of women from the music scene in the video—like Queen Latifah and Mary J. Blige—in the video, even if they weren’t supplying any vocals.

“That’s one of my favorite songs, and it was an honor to work with all of those ladies because it was a great vibe for all the females,” Da Brat said. “They just came to support. Wasn’t nobody getting paid. It was just all love.”

Da Brat goes on to talk about current female rappers like Iggy and even shades Wendy Williams a little… check it out

I don’t know about you but I cannot wait to see this reunion performance!  For now let’s rewind to 1997 to the original ‘Not Tonight’ video.
