According to ABC 6, Olympic star Gabby Douglas is now training for the 2016 games right here in Columbus.
The 18-year-old Olympic gymnastics champion had her pick of gyms across the country to prepare for the next Olympic games in Rio. She chose Buckeye Gymnastics in Westerville.
“I was put in a position where I had to find a new coach. And, I was actually watching Nia Dennis, and she actually goes here, and I was like ‘Hey you know that looks like they have a strong program,'” Douglas said.
Her new coach Kittia Carpenter says Douglas has fit right in at the gym, and has been an inspiration to others.
Douglas now lives in Columbus full time while she trains, so you might even bump into her around town.
“I like to walk around the mall and just hang out, go to the movies, the typical teenager thing.”
