With her mother and sisters by her side, a brave Toni Braxton went public and revealed at a recnet luncheon benefiting lupus awareness and research that she too is battling the potentially deadly autoimmune disease.
“Take a look, this is what lupus looks like,” Braxton said to a surprised audience as she accepted one of two Women in Achievement awards at the 8th Annual bag Ladies Luncheon at the Beverly Wilshire hotel in Beverly Hills on Tuesday (Nov. 16).
It has not been an easy year for the Grammy-winning songstress, who recently filed for bankruptcy for a second time. But she remains strong despite the hardships.
“Had a great time at the 8th Annual Hollywood Bag Ladies Luncheon,” Braxton later tweeted. “A big moment for me. It was a tough decision to come out about it. But it was such a relief!”
