Soul Train was not only an entertaining show. It helped bridge cultures and show unity through music. It was a showcase of the best talent around. It also helped usher in a new era of dance. Every new dance made popular around the country was being birthed on that set. Many of the most popular dancers became famous and went on to do great things in entertainment.

There is not one Black family event in the country that goes down without a Soul Train line. Soul Train was famous for the Soul Train line. You got to see real soul come from Black people and the moves these couples did were phenomenal. We honestly believe a show should bring back the Soul Train Line. Until then we wanted to show you some of our favorite Soul Train Line moments.

Bilal Oliver is on a campaign to make people moist with his music — whether its tears or the sexy kind of condensation. The acoustic version of “Move On” is yet another example of this man’s immense ability to move emotions. This song, like “Think It Over,” is another tear jerker and will have you crying into your cup of Hennessy in the weeks leading up to Valentine’s Day when Bilal performs live in New York City at S.O.B.’s. Let’s just hope that Okayplayer releases some more upbeat songs of his from his recording session at Tom Joyner’s Red Velvet studio, because my heart can take any more of his voice’s bittersweet beauty.

Former Heisman Trophy Winner Troy Smith Signs With Pittsburgh Steelers

When Troy Smith became a free agent at the end of the 2010-2011.season there were rumors that the Pittsburgh Steelers were interested. The Steelers already had a similar player in Dennis Dixon and two other backups for starter Ben Roethlisberger so nothing ever came of the rumors. It seems those rumors were true it just took the Steelers a year to sign Troy Smith.

All three of the Steelers’ backups for Roethlisberger—Byron Leftwich, Charlie Batch and Dixon—are free agents and it is unknown whether Pittsburgh plans to re-sign any of them. There are good reasons not to sign any of them. Leftwich could have been a capable backup quarterback but he was never healthy when the Steelers needed him. Batch and Dixon both got ample opportunities but neither took advantage of it.

Opening at Number 2 At The Box Office, RED TAILS, is the talk of the town. The movie touches on the rise of a unit of African-American pilots the made up the famous Tuskegee Airmen.

In the movie, the men had to deal with discrimination not only from the soldiers in the Air Force but they also were mistreated by the government, often with negative propaganda. Well we happened to find a original propaganda film produced in 1945 by the U.S Army used for recruiting. Note that this video was made in the latter years of their existence as a unit, after many successful campaigns.

Tracy Morgan Hospitalized After Collapsing At Sundance

30 Rock Star Tracy Morgan is currently being hospitalized at Park City Medical Center in Park City, Utah after collapsing at a Sundance Film Festival event Sunday night.

Morgan’s rep told US Weekly

“From a combination of exhaustion and altitude Tracy is seeking medical attention. He is with his fiancé [Megan Wallover] and is grateful to the Park City Medical Center for their care. Any reports of Tracy consuming alcohol are 100 percent false.”

Morgan has a new film Predisposed he was promoting. While giving a speech, some believed that he was intoxicated. He later went outside where he collapsed. Stay tuned for more info.

Today we lost another legend in music. Etta James has always been feisty, strong, and true to herself. So we know that she didn’t go without a fight.

In honor of Etta James we want to celebrate her greatest moments as we remember the legacy she has left. Enjoy.

This song has also been on replay lately. Columbus’ Own Josh Krajcik blew the crowd away on X Factor. But no one can sing it like Etta.

Grad Chapter Gets it in! [VIDEO]

2011 marked a year of the resurgence of Fraternities and Sororities in the spotlight. Not all of the media attention was good, but for the most part Fraternities and Sororities were making moves that would make history.

The efforts that led to the development and construction of the Martin Luther King Jr Memorial showed the world the influence and the power Fraternal Organizations had to mobilize the people into action. That same motivation has spread throughout the country.

If any organization had the best year it would have to be Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated. Besides spearheading the efforts for the memorial, local chapters made the news by using creative methods that went viral. Alpha Rho Lambda, a local graduate chapter here in Columbus, OH is also showing that just because you are out of college doesn’t mean that you can’t run with the best of them.

Check out this video of a Columbus Grad Chapter putting one on hell of a show.
