Miss Colorado USA Blair Griffith seems to have everything, but she lacks something very important: a home.

Griffith and her mother Bonita, were evicted from their home last November. It was only a month after Blair won the 2011 Miss Colorado USA Pageant.

“I hope people will see this and realize, ‘Wow, she is a real person,’ or ‘Hey, I didn’t think there was someone out there going through something similar to me,” said Griffith.

Her interest in pageants started with a tragedy. Her father became very sick when she was in the 8th grade. Gary Griffith, encouraged Blair to enter pageants. The doctors then discovered that he had pancreatic cancer. He died a year later and Blair started to enter pageants, such as Miss Teen Colorado USA.

The family finances took a hit when Blair’s mother had a heart attack and needed major surgery. Griffith believes her experiences have given her a new topic to discuss at events and schools.

“People are going to look and say ‘OK, if she can be Miss Colorado USA and have all this going on in her life and still be focused on her goals and dreams… then I can too,'” she said.
