Veteran R&B Group Boyz II Men is urging fans and people around the world to donate to the people of Japan. Singers Nathan Morris, Shawn Stockman and Wanya Morris have set up their own campaign to raise funds for the Japanese relief effort and plan to raise $100,000. The “End of the Road” hitmakers have teamed up with FirstGiving.com to create the charity drive with the hope of generating cash to boost aid efforts by the American National Red Cross.
Many volunteers from around the world have flown into action to help the victims of the Japanese disaster after an 8.9-magnitude earthquake struck on Friday, March 11. The huge tremor was followed by a massive tsunami, leaving thousands dead.
In a message posted on FirstGiving.com, Boyz II Men says:
“We, Boyz II Men, have a very special relationship with the people of Japan. We have been going to Japan for the past 20 years and we are deeply concerned for the people of Japan and especially for our friends and fans who reside in Sendai and all the areas affected by this earthquake and tsunami.
We can proudly say that Sendai is a beautiful city and we have performed there many times. In fact, we are planning to perform in Sendai in November of 2011 as part of our 20th Year Anniversary Tour.
Please join us in our effort to raise money through the Red Cross of America to help people in need.
We ask all of our fans across the world to join us as we attempt to do something meaningful.”
