People of all nationalities and ages came out Sunday for the official dedication the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial.  Some showed up as early as 5am to get a spot in history. Special guests included President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama along with Vice President Joe Biden and his wife Jill.  Guest speakers included Martin Luther King Jr.’s daughter Rev. Bernice King.  Actress Cicely Tyson briefly addressed the crowd as did Rev. Al Sharpton. Poet Nikki Giovanni read her poem, “In The Spirit Of Martin”. The Queen Of Soul Aretha Franklin and Stevie Wonder were scheduled to perform.  The choir from King’s historic Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta were also a part of Sunday afternoon’s event.  Organizers expected as many as 250,000 people for the dedication event.  Although estimates were closer to 50,000 people in attendance.  Take a look at video from the event below.
