Cathy Hughes and Alfred Liggins IIIIn 1979, brilliant business woman, Cathy Hughes teamed up with her then-husband and founded Radio One–the largest broadcasting company that targets African Americans and the urban community.

Eventually Mrs. Hughes acquired 67 radio stations in 22 urban markets, making Radio One all that is is today as she passed it down to her deserving son, Alfred Liggins III–who’s also got the same Midas Touch as his mother.

As the president and CEO of Radio One and the digital side, Interactive One, Liggins has managed to expand on his mother’s legacy and created TV One. Liggins continues to prove that his mother’s vision stretches farther than anyone could have ever imagined.
