Dear Tom,

My 25-year old daughter Jaleesa truly epitomizes the word “selfless.”  She married her husband James 2-years ago and she became the stepmother of not one, not two, but three beautiful children ages 9, 5, and 4 – Treasure, Jasmine and James Junior.

They also made a 2-year-old baby girl named Jada. Her husband is a postal worker who works the long 12-hour overnight shift, 6 days a week. The hours aren’t the most desirable but it pays the most.

He has joint custody of his children, so they have all three of his kids every 2 weeks for 14 days. Her schedule is booked solid taking the kids to their activities like choir rehearsal, soccer practice and gymnastics.

She works full time as a MedicAid Benefits Counselor while attending Florida A&M working on her Master’s in Social Work.

So she does all that plus maintains her household with a smile on her face – often going without while putting the needs of others before her own.

She could really use a new laptop for school…one that won’t shut off in the middle while she’s writing her papers. The computer she has is SO old – it doesn’t even come up on a Google search!
