Yep, you read that headline right.. just about anything is possible in this day and age. According to Fox 28, Pack 382 from Centerburg launched a space balloon before. But that was from a packing lot with just the Boy Scouts. On Friday, they did it bigger and better. The new space balloon was twice the size of the previous balloon and they invited the entire Centerburg Elementary to help with the countdown.
The balloon traveled to over 107,000 feet above the surface. That is over 20 miles up! The balloon popped after about 90 minutes of flight and it returned to earth about thirty minutes after that. For the flight the Boy Scouts attached a GoPro to capture video from space. ABC 6/FOX 28 also sent up a GoPro with them to get more of the breathtaking view.
