Orlando Jones is a native of Mobile, Alabama in case  you didn’t know. That’s where the Tom Joyner Morning Show is today. Jones is a native of Pritchard and says he had fun growing up there.

“My grandmother said once they got rid of porches that’s when things went downhill. You ain’t prone to act the fool when your grandparents sitting on porches. I think she’s right about that.”

Jones, now 46, is an actor and comedian who is appearing on the hit Fox TV show Sleepy Hollow. He says when he told his family he wanted to act, all three of his uncles said “Look here, boy are you diabetic? Do you have a little sugar in your tank? Is there something that you want to tell us right now?”

Growing up in the Deep South must have made for rich comic material because by 19 years old, he was writing for classic Black comedy shows like A Different World and Martin.

“I saw movies and like any little kid, I said I want to do that,” Jones said. “I kind of met some folks and got lucky and then I was in Hollywood.”

Jones recently dropped a Sleepy Hollow “mixtape” which is all original music. You can find that mixtape here.

“‘Sleepy Hollow’ has all these love stories. Everyone wants to Nicole Beharie to be with Tom Mixon and me to be with Jenny, her sister, but Sleepy Hollow is not really telling that story. I thought I would tell that story like fan fiction but do it through music,” Jones says.
