According to WSYX ABC 6 the City of Columbus has commissioned artist and singer Terry Allen of Santa Fe to design two bronze Buck statues that are now on display on the Scioto Mile in Genova Park.   The two sculptures of anatomically-correct deer posing as humans “gazing” across the river at downtown Columbus.  It is being reported that the two statues cost tax payers a whooping 280K dollars.  And while we all know art is expensive, people are upset.  Why?  Because of the cost and the positions that the bucks are posed in what could be perceived in sexually interpretative positions.  There have also been Facebook comments that the money could have been poured into our ever changing school system.

When I was walking around the river, people were lying down and sitting on benches,” Allen said. While watching the scene, he thought “what if that guy lying in the grass was a deer? — Terry Allen

Scioto is an Native American word derived from the Wyandot name for “deer.”
