condado

According to The Columbus Dispatch, Joe Kahn is hoping to take his build-your-own-taco restaurant national, but first he has to conquer Columbus.

Condado recently opened at 1227 N. High St. in the former Circus Bar space. It is a “Day of the Dead” themed restaurant based on the Barrio taco restaurants in Cleveland.

Kahn was a founder and owner of those Barrio restaurants, but he recently sold his interests in the business in order to move to the Short North and open Condado.

“I wanted to come to Columbus because I want to take the restaurant national. We all know this is a national testing ground for restaurants,” Kahn said. “It’s a proven concept in Cleveland, so we will see how it does here.”

If Condado does well, he plans to open another in Columbus in 2015. After that, “We have big hopes and dreams.”
