According to Fox 28, a German restaurant in north Columbus was hit with several critical health violations, while a few others around town received critical marks as well.

In its most recent inspection, the Columbus Public Health Department found 11 critical violations at “Wurst und Bier” on Hutchinson Avenue on the north side.

Among them were:

– the dishwasher lacked sanitizer

– refrigerated food wasn’t date-marked

– an excessive amount of flies and fruit flies

– mold in the ice machine

– an uncovered pan of freezer burnt meats

Owner AJ Ndreu said all of the violations have been addressed. Ndreu added, “We’re a very clean restaurant. We’ve never had any problems before.”

This week’s Dining Dining tidbits are:

Dragon House International, 958 Galloway Rd. in Galloway – Inspectors spotted refrigerated food not date marked, which it had been warned about during previous inspections.

Mark Pi’s Feast of Dragon, 3663 Soldano Blvd. in West Columbus – Inspectors detected cockroaches, fruit flies and evidence of rodents.

Cafe on Long Street, 893. E. Long St. in East Columbus – Rodent droppings were spotted inside cabinets and on a window ledge.

This week’s Clean Plate Award went to Barcelona, at 263 E. Whittier St. in German Village, which specializes in Spanish fusion. They’ve had three straight inspections without any critical violations.
