Hyundai is recalling cars in the U.S because the front seat belts can detach and fail to hold people in a crash.
Cars Being Recalled:
- Sonata midsize sedans from the 2011-2014 model years
- Sonata Hybrid from the 2011-2015 models
In a statement issued by Hyundai, a fastener for a seat belt anchor may not have been fully latched during assembly and that there has only been one minor injury caused by this defect. An owner in September 2016 reported that the front passenger belt in a 2013 Sonata came loose in a collision. Specific owners will be notified starting April 7th.
