Nearly a year ago, Officer Jeronimo Yanez pulled over Philando Castile’s car and asked for I.D. resulting in Castile being shot and killed in the car with his girlfriend and child in the back seat. The officer explained that he thought Castile was going for his gun, right after he asked for his identification, and fired his weapon. Outside the courtroom where the “not guilty” verdict rendered, protesters gathered this afternoon while Castile’s family denounced the verdict. Yanez is however, not invited back on the police force after his leave is over.
