Days after Nelly’s rape case was dropped, the rapper announced that he plans on taking legal action against the woman who accused him of sexual assault.

According to Page Six, the “Hot In Herre” rapper believes that his reputation has taken a serious blow since he was accused of rape back in October.

“Nelly has suffered very real damage to his reputation,” his attorney Scott Rosenblum said in a statement on Friday.

“He has incurred economic loss and painfully has watched his family suffer. As a result, Nelly is planning to proceed with litigation as the first step in restoring his reputation. We were confident, that what our investigation revealed from the outset of this allegation would ultimately be clear and Nelly would be vindicated.”

Rosenblum added, “A thorough investigation did show Nelly was a victim of deceitful allegation devoid of credibility. Credible evidence did show this accuser to be deceptive. We have been in constant communication with the King County authorities and welcomed and appreciated the diligence in which the authorities proceeded. Leaving no stone unturned.”

To be fair: Nelly has yet to be vindicated and police have not confirmed that the woman was deceptive or that there is any proof that she lied.

What we do know is that police were forced to drop the case this week because the alleged victim would not cooperate with them and press charges against the rapper. Sources say the 21-year-old college student didn’t believe the justice system would work in her favor. That, and she was concerned about the toll a trial would take on her.

“She wishes she had not called 911 because she believes the system is going to fail her,” a statement from the alleged victim’s lawyer said.

“She never wanted notoriety. She never wanted a dime from that man. She wants to go back to school and to graduate.”

As we previously reportedthe attack allegedly occurred on Nelly’s tour bus during a concert stint in Washington State. The alleged victim  told the police it was the “Hot In Herre” Nelly raped her which led to him being booked on second degree rape charges.

To be expected, Nelly was adamant that he never raped this young woman and that these accusations were made to defame him.
