No, he didn’t mean it in a nice way either.

Many states this year plan to make marijuana legal but there is still an angry group of people not happy about it.

Not only are some people not happy with states making weed legal now they want to say it’s black people’s fault. Anti-pot Republican Rep. Steve Alford told a group that black people were smoking up so much weed that states had no choice but to make it legal.

“What was the reason why they did that?” Alford asked rhetorically Saturday during a “Legislative Coffee session” at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, Kansas. “One of the reasons why, I hate to say it, was that the African Americans, they were basically users and they basically responded the worst off to those drugs just because of their character makeup, their genetics and that. And so basically what we’re trying to do is we’re trying to do a complete reverse with people not remembering what has happened in the past.”

Let’s do a little fact checking, the numbers show that white people use marijuana at a higher rate to black people. However, black people are arrested for being in possession of the drug at higher rates than whites. Of course, Rep. Alford didn’t mention that startling fact, did he?
