Officials say that police officers in Darke County were treated for exposure to an unknown white powder they came into contact with during a booking. Greenville Police transported 37-year-old Stephen Garner Jr. to the Darke County Jail, during which multiple plastic baggies containing a white powder dropped from his body. Officials say Garner opened the bags, exposing everyone to the powder. Deputies on the scene reported feelings of being light-headed and ill. Garner fell unconscious as a result of the exposure.

Garner and the deputies were transported to Wayne Healthcare, and were treated with Narcan. The jail was on lock down while the substance was collected, and the area decontaminated. Officials said no other inmates were at risk. The substance has not yet been identified, but is presumably fentanyl.
