Stepping forward to save lives. Members of a south Columbus church brought the community together for a prayer service Wednesday night. All of it was an effort to stop violence in the city this summer.”The African heritage is about praise. When the praises go up, blessings come down,” said Family Missionary Baptist Church pastor Fredrick Lamarr. On Wednesday night, members of Family Missionary Baptist Church held a prayer for peace. Members said it was a call for an end to violence across the city of Columbus.”The message is love. God is love, so we should be not only an entity that holds it, but spread it as well,” said church member Artasia Brown.People gathering at the south side church hoping to make a difference. Their focus is on summer safety.”It’s going to be a hot summer. When it gets hot, tensions start to flare and people are always reactive and say what we could have should have would have done,” said Lamarr.
