According to the Detroit Free Press earlier this morning a 16-year old student was stabbed and killed at Fitzgerald High School in Warren, MI. The suspect, a 17-year old student at the school is currently in custody and it is being reported that the altercation was the result of an argument about a boy the two had a relationship with.

The victim was stabbed twice at 8:30AM this morning with a kitchen knife as class was about to start. A school resource officer performed CPR before the student was transported to St. John Oakland Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

In the Detroit Free Press article Warren Police Commissioner Bill Dwyer called the event a “true tragedy” and the police force is investigating the event to determine the exact motive. Counselors and psychologists are currently available to students and faculty as the police go over safety procedures. School will be canceled for the next two days at Fitzgerald.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to family and friends of the victim.
