Tonight marks the 61st Grammy Award Show, televised at 8:00 pm on CBS.

Here is a Grammy Awards history fact that some may not realize. One of the greatest singers to walk this earth, the late Whitney Houston, was nominated for 26 Grammy’s in her lifetime, winning 7. Her first Grammy Award was achieved in 1986 for Best Pop Vocal Performance in the female category for “Saving All My Love for You”,. That same year she was only nominated for 3 (technically 4 the song writer, LaLa, “You Give Good Love” was nominated as well), losing in the coveted category for Album Of The Year to Phil Collins. As great as Whitney Houston’s music was she wouldn’t win in the category of Album of The Year until 1994 for The Bodyguard: The original soundtrack.

Below is a rare video interview of Whitney Houston talking about how she feels about her first Grammy Award show experience, a first of many more.
