It was a pleasure to be in the stands at the Schott to watch these young ladies make history today. Big congrats to Coach McKinney and all who support this team. The Lady Nubians are once again Division 3 State Champions. The win gave Africentric its seventh state championship, including its second in a row and third in four seasons! Also, they made history with this win, it ties them for the record of the most wins in the state.
The Lady Nubians didn’t have a perfect game and missed quite a few critical shots against Waynesville, but they got the win with a final score of 51-47. The team’s star player, Jordan Horston played well, but wasn’t her best as she was battling an illness and reportedly had a temperature of over 100 degrees the day before.
Although the Waynesville Spartans made a good toward the end, the Lady Nubians pull it off and has made school history as well. They finished the season 28-0, marking it the first undefeated season in history of their program.
Go, Lady Nubians! Congrats again and get ready to make history again next year. The city is behind you all the way!
