A shooting late Tuesday night at a New Albany warehouse left one person dead and five others injured. The incident occurred around 10:20 p.m. at the KDC/One facility on Smith’s Mill Road North.

New Albany Police Chief Greg Jones stated that the attack appeared to be “targeted”, although there is no known prior altercation at the warehouse. Surveillance footage captured his movements entering and leaving the facility, Jones said.

Bruce Reginald Foster III is named as the suspect and was arrested in the Weinland Park neighborhood Wednesday morning. The arrest comes almost 12 hours after the shooting. He will face a charge of aggravated murder out of Licking County Court of Common Pleas.

At the time of the shooting, about 150 employees were actually inside the facility. Many were unaware of the attack due to the building size. After speaking with investigators, those on-site were released.

Authorities confirm Foster didn’t drive himself to work but got a ride. Police do not currently believe the driver was involved in the attack.

“This is a tragic situation, something we never want to happen in our community,” Jones said. “We prepare for situations like this, and now we’re working to bring it to a resolution.”

Emergency responders transported five victims to the hospital, though their conditions remain unknown. The deceased victim was found inside the building.

The KDC/One warehouse will remain closed while the investigation continues. Authorities recommend anyone with information to contact New Albany police at 614-855-1234.
