I’m scared: massive amounts of birds dropping dead out of the sky, hundreds upon hundreds of fish washing up dead on our beaches, politicians are being shot in the head as a form of protest, people being shot and killed in groceries stores…these are just some of the recent events that have taken place. And, I know I’m not the only one scared; the media and social networks are buzzing with talks about the world ending, Jesus coming back, and more. With the Mayans predicting the end of the world in 2012 and it now being a year away, the turn of events happening recently definitely make me raise an eyebrow in concern. So, I sat down to do some research to see what (if any) of these myths I could put to rest.

For starters, I want to be clear that the senseless shootings of our politicians and the grocery store massacre are important and need to be discussed. But, because the bird and fish deaths are (sadly) less common than senseless violence as of recently, that’s where I focused my attention. Seeing pictures of hundreds of dead birds and fish just laying on streets and beaches reminds me of something straight out of a horror movie; something we only see in Hollywood. Experts are calling this event the ‘Aflockalypse’, saying these deaths are signs of the end of the world. But is this true? READ MORE
