Money in an envelope on a white background

An anonymous someone in San Francisco is dropping white envelopes full of cash all across San Francisco. And D.L. Hughley is recognizing this benevolent someone as this week’s Human Being of the Week.

The unknown man, with the Twitter handle @HiddenCash, has been hiding money throughout the city since Friday, leading scores of people on a scavenger hunt. His Twitter following exploded from a few hundred Friday to more than 80,000.

For example, one of his many clues told San Francisco followers to “find Mr. Franklin along the ‘crookedest street,’ (towards the bottom).”

Translation: There was a $100 bill at the bottom of Lombard Street, the popular touristy thoroughfare that’s best known as the “Crookedest Street in The World.”

The Hidden Cash mogul says his giveaways are a “social experiment for good.” He says that he’s made so much money from San Francisco’s real estate market, and hopes winners will also “pay it forward.”
