Rapper Missy Elliott made a rare appearance October 16th with a performance at the Alexander Wang for H&M runway show. Elliott was diagnosed with Graves’ disease back in 2008 and has been battling outside of the public eye. Word is that Elliott is doing really well and has learned to control the disease.
Wondering what Graves disease is?
Graves’ disease is an immune system disorder that results in the overproduction of thyroid hormones (hyperthyroidism). Although a number of disorders may result in hyperthyroidism, Graves’ disease is a common cause.
When first diagnosed Elliott shared that the disease was so debilitating to her nervous system that she couldn’t even use an ink pen. Glad to see Elliott is doing well these days! Now get back in the studio!
