Who is KWN? The R&B Girl You’re About to Fall for

Every once in a while, an artist hits the scene with raw talent and presence that people crave these days. That raw talent and presence oozes out of kwn (pronounced kay-wun).
East London-born, R&B-rooted, and currently taking the States by storm, kwn is the kind of artist who makes you stop what you’re doing and listen to what you’re hearing. And if you haven’t heard her name yet, you will sooner than later.
Her voice? Buttery. Her pen? Sharp but smooth. Her vibe? Sexy (can I say that on here?).
While her super thick UK accent hints at her homeland, kwn’s delivery is drenched in classic R&B and soul. Growing up, her dad was a DJ, which ingrained that musicality into her early. It’s no surprise her influences pull heavy from old-school R&B, jazz, and soul. At only 16, she left high school, or secondary school, to go to East London Arts and Music College. She says that move changed the trajectory of her life.
The London singer only just recently started releasing music in 2020, around the lockdown.
Kwn first turned heads with “worst behaviour,” the steamy remix featuring Kehlani. They also dropped an equally sultry, sapphic music video that shook the Twitterverse. No, I’m not calling it X. The two stirred up dating rumors with their heavy on-screen kiss. But, the real story is their creative bond. Kwn co-wrote for Kehlani’s upcoming While We Wait 2 mixtape and joined them on the European leg of their tour.
Then came “do what i say,” which started picking up steam thanks to her fine a** TikTok promo videos.
With her debut album With All Due Respect dropping June 20, right in the heart of Pride Month, and a 2025 BET Award nomination for Best New International Artist already under her belt, kwn is entering her main character era. Billboard named her Rookie of the Month back in March, but the truth is, she’s been ready.
The name “kwn” itself is a rebrand from her earlier moniker, K1.
“It was originally spelt k1 and then everyone kept telling me it looks like I’m a drill rapper on paper,” she told Coeval Magazine. “So, then I took my initials from my last name and realized I could get away with kwn.”
And if you ask her to define her sound, she won’t. “I just do whatever feels good,” she told Notion. “I love the thought of waking up in the morning knowing that what I’m gonna come out with at the end of the day doesn’t exist in the morning.”
Keep your “eyes wide open“, because kwn’s just getting started.
