- Trent Mays, Ma’lik Richmond were accused of raping 16-year-old
- Accuser took the stand on Saturday, saying she hardly remembers what happened that night because she was drunk
A judge found two Steubenville, Ohio, high school football players guilty of raping a 16-year-old girl during a night of partying last summer.
On Sunday, Judge Thomas Lipps decided the verdict without a jury in the case of 17-year-old Trent Mays and 16-year-old Ma’lik Richmond. Mays and Richmond now face the possibility of being jailed in a juvenile facility until they turn 21 years old.
The verdict comes after four days of evidence and testimony from 28 witnesses — including the alleged rape victim. On Saturday, she broke down on the stand as lawyers showed her a picture of herself — naked and laying on a floor. She says she hardly remembers anything from that night because she was so drunk.
