Father’s Day is just days away.

Out of all the major holidays the day honoring the special men in our lives is often overlooked. This year we wanted to do something a bit different, so we asked some of our celebrity friends to write about fatherhood and the important men in their lives.

Brian Casey, Brandon Casey, Richard Wingo and Kyle Norman of Jagged Edge are the first up in our series of special celebrity Father’s Day blogs.

Brian dad

Brian: What Father’s Day means to me is a chance to take the time to recognize my hero. It sounds corny but my dad has always been my hero. I grew up around lots of young males with no fathers and a big percentage of guys whose fathers just weren’t good ones. My pops has always been there for me and my brothers. He’s always been a great provider, mentor, friend and counselor: the definition of a real man.

Though physically imposing, I have never seen anything but sweetness from him and from a black man, when we are mostly raised to be every type of real, it let me know he was one of the realest. Never afraid to stand up but never afraid to say ‘I love you’ or a simple sorry and I want to take the time now to say I love you homie! Thank you for being the realest man, friend and dad that I could ever ask for. My hero.
