According to TMZ close friends to Ray & Janay Rice have said that hard liquor is to blame for the elevator incident that resulted in Ray punching his then fiance now wife Janay. Rice told representation for the Ravens that he and Janay had been drinking heavily before the altercation and that he becomes a different person after drinking. Ray has given up had liquor but still drinks wine.
