Today two Columbus, Nathaniel Brunner and Devonere Simmonds, teens were sentenced to life behind bars for a crime spree in 2013. The triggerman Simmonds to life without the chance of parole, plus 45 years. Brunner was given 78 years to life in prison. The two shot and killed Imran Ashgar in his south side convenience store. Brunner and Simmonds were also connected to a carjacking, that resulted in the shooting of another man who survived and was instrumental in their case. The two were eventually caught in Dayton sleeping in the car the stole.
Brunner may also be brought up on charges of killing Quinten Ellis-John Prater. This incident took place just three days before the killing of Imran Ashgar.
