This year will have an extra second, and that time difference could impact powering the Internet.

The extra second comes during the last minute of the day on June 30, counting up to 60 seconds. This time will allow the planet to catch up to atomic time, according to USA Today.

Although atomic clocks are constant, the planet is slowing down as it spins each year. So the Earth’s rotation has to catch back up, so the extra time is added to allow for that.
