Byron Jones is the Chief Financial Officer of University of Phoenix and a member of the University President’s Cabinet. A Tuskegee graduate, Jones now helps others achieve their goal of a college education.
The University of Phoenix has over 200,000 students and is an industry leader in online education. Jones says that over 25% of those enrolled are African-American.
“We’re really proud of that fact,” he says. “And more importantly, these are working adults in our community today. We’re here to enrich their educational experience so they can have an impact on their families and their communities.”
To that end, the University of Phoenix has several scholarship initiatives. Jones says that there are 50 million students in the K-12 system. Only 2% of teachers in the U.S. are Black males. As Phoenix’s school of education is one of their biggest, they are offering 40 full-ride scholarships to prospective students via their
‘Road To Success’ program.
