Pooch Hall is one hard-working man.

He’s currently starring in the popular Showtime drama Ray Donovan as ex-boxer Darryl Donovan and promoting his new project My First Love.

#TeamBeautiful got the scoop from Hall on his role as Omar, a husband who lets his tech career interfere with his marriage in the new romance drama.

“[Omar] is a person who is career-driven; he’s an entrepreneur who is trying to do what a lot of guys want to do, what a lot of women want them to do, which is be a hard worker and be a businessman. A provider and to be established. But I think that with my character, I get so caught up in trying to be this shrewd entrepreneur that I take my wife for granted.”

Unlike his character Omar, Hall believes in being very responsible with social media and technology.

“I think either way you look at it when you use social media, it can come back to haunt you or be used against you and certain things can being taken out context because it’s a universal public platform. I use it for my work. I try to reach out to the fans, let them know what’s going on. I try to stay appreciative and thankful but like I said, it can be dangerous if you’re not careful.

In addition to his stint as a regular on the series Ray Donovan, Hall came full circle when he returned to The Game for the series finale.

“It was super bittersweet. I definitely want to thank Stephen Hill who is now in charge of BET for helping bring me back to say goodbye again. But this time I got to say goodbye with my co-star Tia Mowry, which I think was long overdue and quite frankly I feel like we never had to not be on the show.”

But Hall also believes that landing the supporting role on Ray Donovan was part of his evolution as an actor.

“I look forward to continuing to smash on Ray Donovan because I think that in this industry it is about growth and about getting better as an artist and an individual. I have to keep looking forward. I think Ray Donovan was the new journey, the new stage, the next chapter in my life and my career and that’s what I had to concentrate on.”

Hall isn’t just trying to stay in one lane either, he is hoping to mold his career to those of his peers.

“I really am keeping an eye on Will Smith, Jamie Foxx, Don Cheadle, Robert Downey Jr. Those guys are a prime example of how you really want your career to really run.”

Don’t worry, Hall isn’t going anywhere no time soon. He’s due to start filming his next project, Dreamworks’ A Dog’s Purpose, in October.  My First Love is available now on DVD and VOD platforms. Ray Donovan airs Sundays on Showtime at 9 pm ET/PT.
