Kanye West has the right to have his HIPPA information remain confidential. For those who don’t know, that is the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 that ensures that your health information remains private. Unfortunately for him and for some staffers at UCLA Medical Center, some nosy medical personnel forgot to respect those rights and were caught accessing the rap mogul’s personal health information.
Kanye’s stay at UCLA Med Center had some staffers hunting for medical info, according to multiple people at the facility … who tell TMZ a slew of people couldn’t resist attempting to look at his info in the computer.
Multiple sources tell us … members of the Medical Center staff were curious when Kanye was admitted and a number of them attempted to gain access to the computer system. Several sources tell us officials at the Medical Center have conducted an investigation. One source says several dozen people have been or will be fired. Other sources simply say the investigation is ongoing and they expect firings.
Our Kanye sources say they have not been contacted.
We repeatedly reached out to UCLA for comment and they told us they do not comment on personnel.
Kanye was admitted to UCLA Medical Center on November 21 after an incident at the home of his trainer Harley Pasternak. The incident was described at the time as a mental health emergency, and that West may have become a danger to himself or others. This was two days after West ranted about Beyoncè and Jay-Z during a concert on The Life Of Pablo tour and then left the stage. West has since cancelled the tour.
