Ex-cop may still face charges of civil rights violations after the judge formally dismissed his charges.

A court case close to home is making national headlines as an ex-university cop case was dismissed on Monday.

Cincinnati Enquirer reports that the cop, Ray Tensing, fatally shot and killed an unarmed black man, Sam DuBose, during a traffic stop in 2015. Hamilton County Common Pleas Judge Leslie Ghiz declined to acquit Tensing in the shooting but dropped the manslaughter and murder charges.

Many in the court and residents were outraged about this decision and a Black Lives Matter rally ensued after the news broke out.

This case adds to the numerous of traffic stops that repeatedly happen that leave unarm black men and women dead once they encounter the police.
