The Franklin County Dog Shelter & Adoption Center is waiving adoption fees from now until July 4th.
The shelter states the reason behind dropping fees is that they’re at maximum capacity. They are currently tackling taking care of over 260 dogs at the moment. The high numbers are due to the season where many dogs are lost by their owners.
“We are very concerned since we know next week will likely be our busiest week of the year. We urge all dog owners to keep their dogs safe and indoors during the extreme heat this weekend and away from all fireworks celebrations,” Director Don Winstel said.
Those interested can purchase a dog for $18, the cost of the dog license.
