The bitter winter is starting to get the best of us…

A homeowner in Price Hill accidentally set his house on fire Sunday evening. The owner attempted to use a propane torch to melt ice on his exterior steps. Firefighters responded around 7:40 p.m. to Hawthorne Avenue. By that time, the fire had spread from the siding to the attic.

WCPO reports that smoke filled the home, but the fire was contained to the outer walls.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze, but the damage is estimated at $98,000. Thankfully, no injuries were reported. The Cincinnati Fire Department urged caution when using heating appliances. This highlights the risks associated with winter and people trying to alleviate issues on their property.
