The spring hiring season is in full swing.  Take a look below a couple of job fairs coming up in Columbus,  Ohio.  One job fair is specifically for teens and young adults.  The other job fair is for adults.

Soar is looking to find job opportunities for teens and young adults.

A local summer youth employment initiative is getting ready for a job expo for young adults, ages 16 to 24.

Last year, 1,660 paid jobs were delivered through the S.O.A.R. (Successful Opportunities to Achieve and Reconnect) program.

So far this year, more than 20 businesses and academic institutions — such as Columbia Gas, The Ohio State University, Columbus State Community College, the Columbus Zoo and Fed-Ex — have committed to hire.

There still is room for other employers to sign up and reserve space.

Here’s how it works … Anyone who is between 16 and 24 can register for the jobs program now. You also can sign up for a free work-readiness training session before attending the expo.

The first in a series of job expos for S.O.A.R.hire! is set for 1 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, at Franklin County Veterans Memorial, 300 W. Broad St.

Scioto Downs is looking to hire 800 people

Scioto Downs will sponsor a job fair next week to begin the process of hiring 800 new employees with plans to open the new slot machine facility before summer. General Manager Troy Buswell says these are good paying jobs with health care, benefits and flexible work hours.

“We hire for personality more than we hire for ability,” Buswell said. “We can train people. We’re looking for the right personality, somebody who’s fun and outgoing.”

The new Scioto Downs facility will open with approximately 2,100 video lottery terminals. Additionally, there will be a 300-seat buffet, a 100-seat casual dining restaurant, an 82-seat bar/lounge with high-tech sound and lights, and will offer a variety of entertainment options.

The job fair is scheduled for April 18 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Central Ohio Workforce Investment Corporation at 1111 E. Broad St., Columbus. Interested applicants can also apply online.
