The boxing world is mourning the loss of one of the greatest trainers in history, Emanuel Stewart. Steward, owner of the Kronk Gym in Detroit , International Boxing Hall of Fame trainer and HBO Boxing commentator died Thursday at the age of 68 in a Chicago hospital but no details of cause were released.
Stewart trained and bonded with a list of champions including Thomas Hearns, Lennox Lewis, Oscar De La Hoya and Wladimir Klitschko.
Emanuel Steward had been taken to the hospital in September and underwent surgery for diverticulitis, a stomach disorder. His health gradually declined, and on September 23 a prayer vigil was held in Walled Lake for Steward.
